We were not able to make it to Earleville this weekend after some complications at Topeka where the car just shut off after the eight mile. We did however go to Tulsa to test before Dallas and on the first attempt down the track the rearend came apart. We have already made some calls and should have no problems getting the car fixed and ready for Dallas.
This past weekend was the Topeka National. We are happy to say we qualified for the race. We shook both quailfying passes but was able to get the car down the track. Round 1 the car shook and took an immediate right and after getting out of the throttle and straightening back up got on the throttle again but again went right and by then it was over. Video clip from round 1 can be viewed here.
We finished out the 2013 year in the number 9 spot in division for Top Alcohol Funny Car which helps us gear up for 2014. Please take a look at the schedule and mark your calendars so you can plan to come out and see us race.
This past weekend in Dallas was a lot of fun. Thank you to all of you that came out and watched. We qaulified in both cars this weekend which was great. In the funny car we were number 15 with a 5.86 ET. We tried to improve on that time in the right lane but with no success. For first round we had Annie Whitely and she had the best run of the session so we were no competition for her that round. We were in the right lane and at the 60ft mark the car was going to the wall and would not correct so Billy had to get out of it. Still even under powere we were not going to win against Annie's great run.
In Top Dragster we rolled thru the lights so was red lighted but found that may have been a good thing due to a fuel leak that may have sprayed the tires going down the track and could have got ugly.
All in all it was a great weekend. Both cars are still together so we will get ready for Noble divisional in two weeks.
We got all the parts for the dragster motor and will have it back together and in the car this weekend. After a rough year of racing we are hoping to qaulify well in both classes and go some rounds. Should be a great outing with lots of close friends and family coming to root us on.
This weekend was the Earleville divisional race and we love this track. The track owners are such great people and they always put on a good show. We qualified our best so far for the year at number two with a 5.80 after clicking it off 5.78 into the run and coasting thru. The number one qualifier ran a 5.79 so we were so close. For the first round we had the number 5 qualifier and thought we would be safe to leave the car where it was thinking the track would not hold much more than a 5.80 and that number 5 qualifier would not be able to step it ub but we were wrong. The number 5 qualifier ran the fastest of the session and beat us by .004 thousandths of a second. We were in shock and learned a valuable lesson. It was still a great outing and we hope to do great in Dallas in two weeks in both Funny Car and Top Dragster.
After getting home and settling in we decided to take the dragster motor apart and found that it was getting ready to come apart. With it being the Holiday weekend we are not able to order parts so unless we can get parts here before we have to load up for Earleville we will not be able to make it with the dragster.
Topeka Divisional did not go as well as we had hoped. After completely redoing the transmission on the Funny car we still did not have high gear during qualifying so we did not get in the show. In Top Dragster the nitrous did not come on for either pass so a 7.30 did not get us in the show. Knowing we had some work to do we decided to leave Topeka and drive over to Tulsa Raceway Park and make some test runs. We were able to get the funny car from A to B with no issues after figuring out the transmission issue. The dragster had a failed part which was replaced and is not working as well. From here we go to Earleville, IA in hopes of qualifying and getting a win.
We are loaded up and ready to head to the Topeka Divisional. This is Billy's home town so it is one race we always look forward to. Billy will be racing in Alcohol Funny Car and I, Cynthia, will be racing in Top Dragster. Want to say thank you to our sponsors for all the support this year. We hope you will continue to support us in the future.
Just wanted to send out an update from the weekend as well as say thank all of our sponsors for your support.
This past weekend was the Tulsa Divisional for both Top Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car.
We started off the weekend by doing some promotional work at Wal-Mart in Owasso by displaying both race cars in front of the store and giving out free tickets to the races.
On Friday Alcohol class was given two qualifying passes. The first qualifier we had massive tire shake right at the hit of the throttle. We made some adjustments and second qualifier went much better but still with issues and having to click off due to air leak preventing the car to shift into high gear.
We did some incremental comparisons to the top qualifiers and we were right there with them until we clicked it off so we do feel good about how the car would have run.
Race day we were not given a third qualifying pass in funny car so we did not make the show.
In top dragster we qualified in the bottom half of the field. We then went on to race in a gamblers race and lost 2nd round by breaking out by .003 at the stripe.
For the divisional we did just the opposite and gave it back. The opponent was dead on and had a better light.
Plans are to do more testing in Tulsa this upcoming weekend in the funny car as well as get more runs in the dragster in the local points race.
